These structures were designed for the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Internment Memorial. The Memorial (an ongoing project) is being built in remembrance of the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII. The overall design of the memorial is the work of

It is the desire of the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Community and the larger community of the island that the memorial reflect not just the ancestry of those remembered but their cultural heritage as Americans as well.
